Earn the highest rate with GIC Laddering
Take the guesswork out of investing by continuous investments at the highest interest rate using a GIC Laddering Strategy. It’s quite simple to do.
Step 1:
Separate the funds you want to invest into 5 equal amounts.
Invest each amount in a 1 year, 2 year, 3 year, 4 year and 5 year GIC.
Step 2:
Each year, one GIC matures and you reinvest the funds in a new 5-year GIC (5 year GICs offer you the highest interest rate). You keep doing this every year.
By laddering your GICs, you are:
- Continuously investing in the highest rate available, which will increase the return on your savings.
- Securing your funds. The money is protected and the interest rate is fixed.
- Ensuring you have investments maturing every year, which provides you with liquid funds in case you need it.
All rates are calculated on a per annum basis and are subject to change.
Savings interest rates quoted are per annum, with interest calculated on the daily closing balance and added to the principal on the last day of each month.
GIC interest rates quoted are per annum, with interest calculated and paid on each 12 month anniversary date, and at maturity. Term rates are guaranteed for their specific duration and are not redeemable prior to maturity.
